Scenes from the Auberge Hotel and Dinner at Lions Pub

Our family stayed in Vancouver for two nights and the first night was spent at the Auberge Hotel. Upon checking in we were notified our room had been upgraded to a Harbour View Suite. I didn't think to much about it until we entered the room and saw the view. I squealed with delight. The Vancouver Lookout was right next to us and we also had water views. Our room was big since it was a suite, with a good size living area, kitchen, bathroom, two roomy closets, and a bedroom. It was also on the 10th floor and was a corner room, so the floor to ceiling windows lined the rooms. Its too bad we only had one night because we certainly could have made ourselves at home for a while.

For dinner that night, we wanted something easy where we wouldn't have to get back in our car and navigate around Vancouver. What's one to do? Hit up the restaurant in the hotel and luckily for us, the Lions Pub menu looked great and they were family friendly to boot. The place was hopping, but we found a table for four and the service was fast. I ordered a New York Sour which was well, sour, and had Bulleit Bourbon, Fresh Lemon and Lime, Red Wine Float, and Egg White. It was a gorgeous drink and quite strong but not the most delish ever because of how sour it was. The Mac and Cheese Sticks sounded fun and tasty and I'm glad we ordered them. They had English cheddar, fresh herbs,
panko breaded, and truffle aioli. They were hot and crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside from that wonderful English cheddar. We also had the Truffle fries which were nice and thick and topped with parmesan. My husband had Spiced Quinoa Veggie Burger which had quinoa vegetable patty, onion ring, sautéed mushrooms, roasted pepper hummus, and tzatziki. The Burger was huge and how fun to see an onion ring on a veggie burger. Then we shared the Tuna Nicoise Salad which was seared rare ahi tuna, baby potato, heirloom tomato, olives, green beans, arcadian greens, anchovy & caper dressing. It was a pretty dish and tasted really fresh.

By then we were nice and full and ready to watch the lights of Vancouver come on all around us. The next morning, our son awoke at six and I watched the sunrise with him. It was fun to watch the city wake up and to see that pink hue on all of the buildings and the water. Vancouver, you are really something else!

After trying to go back to sleep for a while and failing to, we got started on our day. We headed over to the continental breakfast and loaded up on chocolate croissants, eggs, and cereal. We were fueled up and ready to explore Vancouver.
