Sure, Whistler is known for being a world-class ski resort. But it's also a sweet spot for desserts. During our visit I found five places sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Cows Ice Cream is a hotspot for ice cream lovers with lines out the door. During a hot afternoon in Whistler, there's nothing better than cooling down with an ice cream cone. I tried a chocolate waffle cone with a scoop of their Cowie Wowie, vanilla ice cream with chocolate and caramel swirls. You've gotta love the cow theme, from the cute cow ice cream flavors to the many cow souvenirs for sale in the spacious gift shop. Don't forget to pose for a photo with the cow outside the store.
Beavertails are a Canadian treat you won't want to miss. Imagine an elephant ear with your choice of sweet toppings. From an Apple Cinnamon, to Nutella, and even Reese's Pieces, there are many toppings that will satisfy. We tried the Maple Butter Beavertail at Zog's Dogs. I wanted to get the maple because, well, we are in Canada, right? It tasted like a giant maple bar but the beavertail was thinner like an elephant ear. It was hot, right from the fryer, and I could imagine how popular the Beavertails are in the wintertime when skiers come right off the lift, warming up with a treat.
Roger's Chocolates, right in the heart of Whistler Village, is the place to get your chocolate. The dark chocolate truffles were rich and delicious. They would be the perfect gift for someone special or even just to treat yourself. They even had ice cream bars covered in their signature dark chocolate to beat the heat.
Purebread is an institution in Whistler. It seemed like their most popular bakery and also like the place to be on a Saturday morning. With a line outside, everyone had the same idea to score a weekend pastry. When I entered Purebread there were pastries and treats that seemed to go on and on. How would one ever decide what to get?
The Great Glass Elevator Candy Shop, located right by the kid's park, was filled to the brim with many candy selections. They had everything from specialty candy bars, to nostalgic candy, and lots of bins with gummy candy. It was a fun store with lots to look at. I especially liked the piñatas and balloons. Really, who doesn't love a whimsical bright blue candy store. This is what dreams are made of.
