Seattle's Urbanspoon event at Cicchetti

I attended an Urbanspoon event the other night at Cicchetti.  The event, Prime Time, was the first in Seattle Urbanspoon hosted and was for Prime bloggers and users.  We mingled and met other bloggers, drank wine and cocktails and sampled the spring menu at Cicchetti.

Cicchetti is a Mediterranean restaurant located in East Lake.  The name Cicchetti in Italian means small plates, and are like the ones served in Venice.  They opened in 2004 and are the first to have this type of restaurant.  The bar manager also did a demonstration on tinctures for us.  A tincture is an alcohol-based derivative of an herb or other plant.  When he was done we all tried the cocktail which I thought was fruity and refreshing.  The wine they served upon greeting us was a nice, light 2012 Sauvignon Blanc.

Some of the food we sampled were as follows:

House- made flatbread, Manchego cheese, Castelvetrano olives, Beet and walnut salad with goat cheese panna cotta,  Pizza Margherita, Lamb and English pea kibbeh with sweet harissa, Salt cod fritters, Oven charred wild spring onions, house- made focaccia with extra virgin oil, Crispy chicken wings with za'atar, calabrian chili and spicy date molasses, Fattoush salad with cucumber, red onion, flatbread, bell pepper and fresh herbs and El Greco -spiced falafel with beet and chickpea, cucumber, myzithra and watercress.

I had a fun time, enjoying meeting people and tasting all the dishes.  I especially enjoyed the goat cheese panna cotta, the salad and the Pizza Margherita.  They have a wood fired oven which makes the pizza taste delicious with that perfectly charred crust.

What a nice event and a great night out!
